Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 1.22%, while the SBF 120 index climbed 1.17%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Societe Generale SA (PA:SOGN), which rose 3.14% or 0.78 points to trade at 25.43 at the close. Meanwhile, ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) added 2.72% or 0.68 points to end at 25.54 and Capgemini SE (PA:CAPP) was up 2.67% or 4.20 points to 161.55 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW), which fell 0.40% or 0.32 points to trade at 79.91 at the close. Orange SA (PA:ORAN) declined 0.41% or 0.04 points to end at 9.62 and Danone SA (PA:DANO) was up 0.14% or 0.08 points to 57.08.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Europcar Groupe SA (PA:EUCAR) which rose 12.93% to 0.4856, Mcphy Energy (PA:MCPHY) which was up 6.59% to settle at 21.66 and Solutions 30 SE (PA:S30) which gained 6.53% to close at 4.96.
The worst performers were CGG SA (PA:GEPH) which was down 1.89% to 0.829 in late trade, Air France KLM SA (PA:AIRF) which lost 1.22% to settle at 4.36 and Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which was down 1.21% to 8.990 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 386 to 218 and 74 ended unchanged.
Shares in Capgemini SE (PA:CAPP) rose to 5-year highs; rising 2.67% or 4.20 to 161.55.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0% to 18.96 a new 3-months low.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.27% or 4.80 to $1778.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.15% or 0.11 to hit $73.19 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.29% or 0.22 to trade at $75.41 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.01% to 1.1926, while EUR/GBP rose 0.45% to 0.8576.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.08% at 91.862.
