Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 1.21% to hit a new 52-week high, while the SBF 120 index gained 1.10%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW), which rose 4.06% or 2.70 points to trade at 69.22 at the close. Meanwhile, Societe Generale SA (PA:SOGN) added 3.96% or 0.86 points to end at 22.57 and BNP Paribas SA (PA:BNPP) was up 3.85% or 1.95 points to 52.62 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Capgemini SE (PA:CAPP), which fell 1.06% or 1.55 points to trade at 145.00 at the close. Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) declined 1.03% or 0.12 points to end at 12.04 and Veolia Environnement VE SA (PA:VIE) was down 0.92% or 0.20 points to 21.56.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Technip Energies BV (PA:TE) which rose 5.82% to 12.90, Neoen SA (PA:NEOEN) which was up 4.73% to settle at 39.85 and WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW) which gained 4.06% to close at 69.22.
The worst performers were Sartorius Stedim Biotech SA (PA:STDM) which was down 2.66% to 344.60 in late trade, Biomerieux SA (PA:BIOX) which lost 2.38% to settle at 106.60 and Valneva (PA:VLS) which was down 2.29% to 10.260 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 338 to 239 and 88 ended unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0% to 18.96 a new 3-months low.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 1.62% or 27.70 to $1686.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 1.51% or 0.93 to hit $60.63 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 1.14% or 0.74 to trade at $64.18 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.32% to 1.1724, while EUR/GBP fell 0.04% to 0.8540.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.34% at 93.273.
