Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 1.21% to hit a new 1-month high, while the SBF 120 index gained 1.20%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT), which rose 5.86% or 0.744 points to trade at 13.440 at the close. Meanwhile, Thales (PA:TCFP) added 5.41% or 5.65 points to end at 110.00 and LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE (PA:LVMH) was up 3.61% or 12.85 points to 368.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Pernod Ricard SA (PA:PERP), which fell 0.39% or 0.70 points to trade at 176.55 at the close. Bouygues SA (PA:BOUY) declined 0.33% or 0.11 points to end at 33.55 and Orange SA (PA:ORAN) was down 0.25% or 0.04 points to 13.79.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Valeo SA (PA:VLOF) which rose 7.64% to 26.90, ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) which was up 5.86% to settle at 13.440 and Faurecia (PA:EPED) which gained 5.72% to close at 42.12.
The worst performers were Iliad (PA:ILD) which was down 5.53% to 84.10 in late trade, SCOR SE (PA:SCOR) which lost 1.95% to settle at 35.79 and ALD SA (PA:ALDA) which was down 1.92% to 13.26 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 343 to 215 and 90 ended unchanged.
Shares in Iliad (PA:ILD) fell to 5-year lows; down 5.53% or 4.92 to 84.10.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 8.23% to 16.29 a new 1-month low.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.03% or 0.50 to $1556.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 4.34% or 2.34 to hit $56.28 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 4.22% or 2.46 to trade at $60.72 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.49% to 1.1026, while EUR/GBP fell 0.48% to 0.9033.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.52% at 98.435.
