Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 1.11% to hit a new 1-month high, while the SBF 120 index gained 1.08%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were STMicroelectronics NV (PA:STM), which rose 6.22% or 1.015 points to trade at 17.325 at the close. Meanwhile, Capgemini SE (PA:CAPP) added 5.28% or 5.70 points to end at 113.70 and Safran SA (PA:SAF) was up 5.10% or 6.70 points to 138.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were L’Oreal SA (PA:OREP), which fell 1.61% or 4.10 points to trade at 250.70 at the close. Veolia Environnement VE SA (PA:VIE) declined 1.36% or 0.310 points to end at 22.430 and Air Liquide SA (PA:AIRP) was down 1.27% or 1.60 points to 124.30.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Valeo SA (PA:VLOF) which rose 6.54% to 28.66, CGG SA (PA:GEPH) which was up 6.36% to settle at 2.190 and Compagnie Plastic Omnium SA (PA:PLOF) which gained 6.29% to close at 23.99.
The worst performers were Biomerieux SA (PA:BIOX) which was down 3.79% to 69.75 in late trade, Ipsen SA (PA:IPN) which lost 3.07% to settle at 93.25 and Sartorius Stedim Biotech SA (PA:STDM) which was down 2.88% to 138.30 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 328 to 228 and 93 ended unchanged.
Shares in Safran SA (PA:SAF) rose to all time highs; rising 5.10% or 6.70 to 138.00.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 6.85% to 15.17 a new 1-month low.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 2.30% or 35.90 to $1524.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 1.65% or 0.93 to hit $57.19 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.70% or 1.03 to trade at $61.73 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.08% to 1.1042, while EUR/GBP fell 0.44% to 0.8964.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.06% at 98.338.
