Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 1.06% to hit a new 5-year high, while the SBF 120 index gained 1.07%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were STMicroelectronics (MI:STM), which rose 3.30% or 0.790 points to trade at 24.760 at the close. Meanwhile, Airbus Group SE (PA:AIR) added 2.33% or 3.04 points to end at 133.52 and Kering SA (PA:PRTP) was up 2.19% or 12.80 points to 598.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Renault SA (PA:RENA), which fell 0.66% or 0.28 points to trade at 41.90 at the close. Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin SCA (PA:MICP) declined 0.60% or 0.65 points to end at 108.45 and Sodexo SA (PA:EXHO) was down 0.05% or 0.05 points to 105.60.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Europcar Groupe SA (PA:EUCAR) which rose 5.63% to 4.58, Genfit (PA:GNFT) which was up 4.82% to settle at 18.500 and Soitec SA (PA:SOIT) which gained 3.95% to close at 97.400.
The worst performers were Coface (PA:COFA) which was down 1.55% to 10.80 in late trade, Renault SA (PA:RENA) which lost 0.66% to settle at 41.90 and Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin SCA (PA:MICP) which was down 0.60% to 108.45 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 419 to 158 and 86 ended unchanged.
Shares in STMicroelectronics (MI:STM) rose to 5-year highs; up 3.30% or 0.790 to 24.760. Shares in Kering SA (PA:PRTP) rose to all time highs; rising 2.19% or 12.80 to 598.00.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 10.22% to 12.41.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.30% or 4.55 to $1527.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 0.29% or 0.18 to hit $60.88 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.05% or 0.03 to trade at $65.97 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.36% to 1.1170, while EUR/GBP rose 0.56% to 0.8504.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.48% at 96.515.
