Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 0.92%, while the SBF 120 index gained 0.95%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT), which rose 4.46% or 0.678 points to trade at 15.892 at the close. Meanwhile, Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP) added 3.70% or 0.81 points to end at 22.72 and Societe Generale SA (PA:SOGN) was up 3.13% or 0.70 points to 23.03 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Publicis Groupe SA (PA:PUBP), which fell 1.01% or 0.45 points to trade at 44.00 at the close. Vivendi SA (PA:VIV) declined 0.84% or 0.21 points to end at 24.68 and Veolia Environnement VE SA (PA:VIE) was down 0.78% or 0.180 points to 22.770.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Faurecia (PA:EPED) which rose 11.49% to 45.33, Compagnie Plastic Omnium SA (PA:PLOF) which was up 8.29% to settle at 24.30 and Valeo SA (PA:VLOF) which gained 6.22% to close at 28.50.
The worst performers were Ingenico Group SA (PA:INGC) which was down 2.47% to 77.44 in late trade, Genfit (PA:GNFT) which lost 1.64% to settle at 16.200 and Ubisoft Entertainment (PA:UBIP) which was down 1.58% to 74.800 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 333 to 209 and 105 ended unchanged.
Shares in Publicis Groupe SA (PA:PUBP) fell to 5-year lows; losing 1.01% or 0.45 to 44.00.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 10.58% to 12.50.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.49% or 6.95 to $1419.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.32% or 0.18 to hit $56.04 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.51% or 0.32 to trade at $62.94 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.51% to 1.1151, while EUR/GBP fell 0.19% to 0.8964.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.47% at 97.393.
