Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 0.90%, while the SBF 120 index climbed 0.86%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Carrefour SA (PA:CARR), which rose 2.94% or 0.40 points to trade at 14.03 at the close. Meanwhile, LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE (PA:LVMH) added 2.22% or 8.50 points to end at 391.20 and Worldline SA (PA:WLN) was up 2.14% or 1.52 points to 72.70 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Safran SA (PA:SAF), which fell 2.73% or 2.90 points to trade at 103.50 at the close. WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW) declined 2.19% or 1.05 points to end at 46.95 and Publicis Groupe SA (PA:PUBP) was down 2.00% or 0.62 points to 30.44.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Tarkett (PA:TKTT) which rose 4.17% to 11.24, Iliad (PA:ILD) which was up 3.88% to settle at 171.50 and Sartorius Stedim Biotech SA (PA:STDM) which gained 3.37% to close at 282.00.
The worst performers were Safran SA (PA:SAF) which was down 2.73% to 103.50 in late trade, TechnipFMC PLC (PA:FTI) which lost 2.55% to settle at 7.41 and Air France KLM SA (PA:AIRF) which was down 2.40% to 4.06 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 321 to 220 and 102 ended unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 1.51% to 22.66.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.65% or 12.65 to $1958.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.85% or 0.77 to hit $42.38 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 1.66% or 0.74 to trade at $45.24 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.45% to 1.1792, while EUR/GBP rose 0.49% to 0.9040.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.28% at 93.340.
