Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 0.88%, while the SBF 120 index added 0.80%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT), which rose 11.04% or 1.58 points to trade at 15.91 at the close. Meanwhile, Sanofi SA (PA:SASY) added 4.14% or 3.72 points to end at 93.65 and Renault SA (PA:RENA) was up 3.28% or 1.15 points to 36.09 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW), which fell 1.17% or 1.45 points to trade at 122.55 at the close. Bouygues SA (PA:BOUY) declined 1.16% or 0.43 points to end at 36.72 and Legrand SA (PA:LEGD) was down 1.08% or 0.80 points to 73.16.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) which rose 11.04% to 15.91, SES (PA:SESFd) which was up 6.64% to settle at 13.10 and Aperam SA (AS:APAM) which gained 5.84% to close at 31.15.
The worst performers were SCOR SE (PA:SCOR) which was down 4.39% to 36.79 in late trade, Nexans SA (PA:NEXS) which lost 3.65% to settle at 45.94 and DBV Technologies (PA:DBV) which was down 3.31% to 17.81 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 374 to 203 and 67 ended unchanged.
Shares in Sanofi SA (PA:SASY) rose to 3-years highs; rising 4.14% or 3.72 to 93.65. Shares in Aperam SA (AS:APAM) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 5.84% or 1.72 to 31.15.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 5.14% to 13.04.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.37% or 5.85 to $1568.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.45% or 0.23 to hit $50.98 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.45% or 0.25 to trade at $55.03 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.20% to 1.0975, while EUR/GBP rose 0.34% to 0.8486.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.23% at 98.380.
