Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 0.87%, while the SBF 120 index gained 0.70%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Safran SA (PA:SAF), which rose 4.36% or 4.70 points to trade at 112.45 at the close. Meanwhile, Societe Generale SA (PA:SOGN) added 4.36% or 0.83 points to end at 19.92 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) was up 3.88% or 0.74 points to 19.78 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Renault SA (PA:RENA), which fell 4.84% or 1.93 points to trade at 37.88 at the close. WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW) declined 1.81% or 1.02 points to end at 55.36 and Sanofi SA (PA:SASY) was down 1.69% or 1.32 points to 76.92.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Mcphy Energy (PA:MCPHY) which rose 4.99% to 31.55, Eramet SA (PA:ERMT) which was up 4.75% to settle at 63.02 and Compagnie Plastic Omnium SE (PA:PLOF) which gained 4.73% to close at 32.78.
The worst performers were Gaztransport et Technigaz SA (PA:GTT) which was down 11.90% to 71.10 in late trade, ICADE (PA:ICAD) which lost 5.28% to settle at 55.65 and Renault SA (PA:RENA) which was down 4.84% to 37.88 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 348 to 229 and 84 ended unchanged.
Shares in Eramet SA (PA:ERMT) rose to 52-week highs; rising 4.75% or 2.86 to 63.02.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0% to 18.96 a new 1-month low.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.57% or 10.15 to $1785.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.68% or 0.41 to hit $60.11 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.27% or 0.17 to trade at $63.76 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.34% to 1.2129, while EUR/GBP rose 0.08% to 0.8653.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.33% at 90.297.
