Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 0.83%, while the SBF 120 index climbed 0.77%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT), which rose 4.12% or 1.12 points to trade at 28.30 at the close. Meanwhile, Worldline SA (PA:WLN) added 3.16% or 1.35 points to end at 43.85 and Sanofi SA (PA:SASY) was up 3.11% or 2.81 points to 93.10 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Publicis Groupe SA (PA:PUBP), which fell 2.41% or 1.54 points to trade at 62.40 at the close. Hermes International SCA (PA:HRMS) declined 2.29% or 30.00 points to end at 1280.00 and Alstom SA (PA:ALSO) was down 2.21% or 0.60 points to 26.49.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) which rose 4.12% to 28.30, Valneva (PA:VLS) which was up 4.04% to settle at 15.200 and Ovh Groupe SAS (PA:OVH) which gained 3.38% to close at 23.88.
The worst performers were Orpea SA (PA:ORP) which was down 4.51% to 32.19 in late trade, ICADE (PA:ICAD) which lost 3.52% to settle at 56.25 and Publicis Groupe SA (PA:PUBP) which was down 2.41% to 62.40 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 288 to 261 and 100 ended unchanged.
Shares in Alstom SA (PA:ALSO) fell to 3-years lows; losing 2.21% or 0.60 to 26.49. Shares in Orpea SA (PA:ORP) fell to 5-year lows; down 4.51% or 1.52 to 32.19.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.72% or 13.05 to $1820.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 1.26% or 1.16 to hit $91.15 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.65% or 0.61 to trade at $92.66 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.24% to 1.1419, while EUR/GBP fell 0.12% to 0.8448.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.08% at 95.560.
