Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 0.83% to hit a new 5-year high, while the SBF 120 index added 0.75%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Kering SA (PA:PRTP), which rose 6.27% or 35.30 points to trade at 598.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin SCA (PA:MICP) added 6.23% or 6.45 points to end at 109.95 and Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP) was up 4.96% or 0.95 points to 20.12 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Safran SA (PA:SAF), which fell 1.47% or 2.20 points to trade at 147.35 at the close. Sanofi SA (PA:SASY) declined 1.06% or 1.00 points to end at 92.93 and Airbus Group SE (PA:AIR) was down 1.01% or 1.40 points to 136.60.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Kering SA (PA:PRTP) which rose 6.27% to 598.00, Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin SCA (PA:MICP) which was up 6.23% to settle at 109.95 and Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP) which gained 4.96% to close at 20.12.
The worst performers were BIC (PA:BICP) which was down 5.30% to 61.60 in late trade, SES (PA:SESFd) which lost 2.86% to settle at 11.05 and Virbac SA (PA:VIRB) which was down 2.19% to 223.50 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 349 to 222 and 89 ended unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 3.02% to 12.70.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.08% or 1.25 to $1571.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 2.66% or 1.33 to hit $51.27 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 3.54% or 1.91 to trade at $55.92 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.33% to 1.0878, while EUR/GBP fell 0.40% to 0.8391.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.24% at 98.828.
