Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 0.70%, while the SBF 120 index added 0.70%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Societe Generale SA (PA:SOGN), which rose 5.83% or 1.29 points to trade at 23.50 at the close. Meanwhile, EssilorLuxottica SA (PA:ESLX) added 4.12% or 5.05 points to end at 127.70 and Legrand SA (PA:LEGD) was up 2.57% or 1.64 points to 65.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were TechnipFMC PLC (PA:FTI), which fell 2.62% or 0.66 points to trade at 24.49 at the close. Veolia Environnement VE SA (PA:VIE) declined 2.54% or 0.580 points to end at 22.270 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) was down 1.49% or 0.216 points to 14.302.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were ALD SA (PA:ALDA) which rose 7.85% to 14.56, Societe Generale SA (PA:SOGN) which was up 5.83% to settle at 23.50 and Technicolor (PA:TCH) which gained 5.47% to close at 0.810.
The worst performers were Aperam SA (AS:APAM) which was down 5.67% to 21.28 in late trade, Eramet SA (PA:ERMT) which lost 4.81% to settle at 41.55 and TechnipFMC PLC (PA:FTI) which was down 2.62% to 24.49 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 278 to 270 and 105 ended unchanged.
Shares in Eramet SA (PA:ERMT) fell to 52-week lows; losing 4.81% or 2.10 to 41.55.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 9.45% to 13.41.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.50% or 7.25 to $1430.55 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 3.36% or 1.97 to hit $56.61 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 2.74% or 1.78 to trade at $63.27 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.05% to 1.1068, while EUR/GBP rose 0.09% to 0.9114.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.04% at 98.297.
