Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 0.61% to hit a new 5-year high, while the SBF 120 index added 0.61%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Renault SA (PA:RENA), which rose 1.77% or 0.59 points to trade at 34.12 at the close. Meanwhile, ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) added 1.71% or 0.41 points to end at 24.66 and AXA SA (PA:AXAF) was up 1.64% or 0.39 points to 23.91 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Worldline SA (PA:WLN), which fell 1.60% or 1.31 points to trade at 80.32 at the close. STMicroelectronics NV (PA:STM) declined 1.48% or 0.46 points to end at 30.70 and Atos SE (PA:ATOS) was down 0.92% or 0.52 points to 56.10.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Television Francaise 1 SA (PA:TFFP) which rose 5.67% to 8.20, Aeroports de Paris SA (PA:ADP) which was up 3.70% to settle at 110.65 and BIC (PA:BICP) which gained 3.15% to close at 60.60.
The worst performers were Lagardere SCA (PA:LAGA) which was down 7.15% to 20.78 in late trade, DBV Technologies (PA:DBV) which lost 5.57% to settle at 10.59 and Valneva (PA:VLS) which was down 4.85% to 13.330 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 319 to 280 and 74 ended unchanged.
Shares in AXA SA (PA:AXAF) rose to 52-week highs; up 1.64% or 0.39 to 23.91. Shares in Atos SE (PA:ATOS) fell to 52-week lows; losing 0.92% or 0.52 to 56.10. Shares in BIC (PA:BICP) rose to 52-week highs; up 3.15% or 1.85 to 60.60.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0% to 18.96 a new 3-months low.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 1.42% or 25.15 to $1792.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 1.01% or 0.64 to hit $64.22 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.96% or 0.64 to trade at $67.40 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.34% to 1.2059, while EUR/GBP fell 0.25% to 0.8668.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.32% at 90.977.
