Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 0.57% to hit a new 5-year high, while the SBF 120 index added 0.54%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Hermes International SCA (PA:HRMS), which rose 3.07% or 29.20 points to trade at 980.60 at the close. Meanwhile, L’Oreal SA (PA:OREP) added 2.69% or 8.90 points to end at 339.60 and Legrand SA (PA:LEGD) was up 2.46% or 1.94 points to 80.92 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Renault SA (PA:RENA), which fell 3.47% or 1.31 points to trade at 36.40 at the close. Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin SCA (PA:MICP) declined 2.51% or 3.25 points to end at 126.15 and Faurecia (PA:EPED) was down 2.41% or 1.19 points to 48.23.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Valneva (PA:VLS) which rose 9.05% to 11.450, DBV Technologies (PA:DBV) which was up 7.30% to settle at 10.14 and BIC (PA:BICP) which gained 5.22% to close at 53.45.
The worst performers were Renault SA (PA:RENA) which was down 3.47% to 36.40 in late trade, Air France KLM SA (PA:AIRF) which lost 3.17% to settle at 5.31 and Solutions 30 SE (PA:S30) which was down 2.90% to 11.71 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 304 to 280 and 92 ended unchanged.
Shares in L’Oreal SA (PA:OREP) rose to all time highs; up 2.69% or 8.90 to 339.60. Shares in BIC (PA:BICP) rose to 52-week highs; up 5.22% or 2.65 to 53.45.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0% to 18.96 a new 3-months low.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.87% or 15.10 to $1756.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.27% or 0.16 to hit $59.61 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.13% or 0.08 to trade at $63.24 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.28% to 1.1904, while EUR/GBP rose 0.30% to 0.8666.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.34% at 92.157.
