Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 0.56% to hit a new 5-year high, while the SBF 120 index climbed 0.47%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Total SA (PA:TOTF), which rose 2.73% or 1.31 points to trade at 49.48 at the close. Meanwhile, Sanofi SA (PA:SASY) added 2.33% or 1.90 points to end at 83.32 and AXA SA (PA:AXAF) was up 2.12% or 0.48 points to 23.39 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Airbus Group SE (PA:AIR), which fell 3.21% or 3.98 points to trade at 120.10 at the close. STMicroelectronics NV (PA:STM) declined 2.34% or 0.425 points to end at 17.730 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) was down 1.66% or 0.234 points to 13.832.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Alten SA (PA:LTEN) which rose 4.06% to 107.60, Korian Medica SA (PA:KORI) which was up 3.83% to settle at 37.440 and Casino Guichard Perrachon SA (PA:CASP) which gained 3.79% to close at 45.49.
The worst performers were Rexel (PA:RXL) which was down 6.07% to 10.05 in late trade, Ingenico Group SA (PA:INGC) which lost 3.24% to settle at 89.06 and Airbus Group SE (PA:AIR) which was down 3.21% to 120.10 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 278 to 273 and 103 ended unchanged.
Shares in Sanofi SA (PA:SASY) rose to 52-week highs; rising 2.33% or 1.90 to 83.32. Shares in Korian Medica SA (PA:KORI) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 3.83% or 1.380 to 37.440.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 2.16% to 14.11.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.28% or 4.25 to $1510.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 1.31% or 0.76 to hit $58.95 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.06% or 0.68 to trade at $65.08 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.30% to 1.1007, while EUR/GBP rose 0.05% to 0.8818.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.37% at 98.213.
