Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 0.54%, while the SBF 120 index gained 0.45%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Hermes International SCA (PA:HRMS), which rose 2.18% or 28.00 points to trade at 1309.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Sanofi SA (PA:SASY) added 2.18% or 1.80 points to end at 84.43 and Veolia Environnement VE SA (PA:VIE) was up 1.87% or 0.52 points to 28.28 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Renault SA (PA:RENA), which fell 2.76% or 0.89 points to trade at 31.36 at the close. Capgemini SE (PA:CAPP) declined 2.11% or 4.00 points to end at 185.50 and Safran SA (PA:SAF) was down 1.78% or 1.98 points to 109.02.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Valneva (PA:VLS) which rose 18.97% to 18.000, Mcphy Energy (PA:MCPHY) which was up 7.72% to settle at 21.78 and Neoen SA (PA:NEOEN) which gained 5.66% to close at 39.22.
The worst performers were Mercialys SA (PA:MERY) which was down 3.53% to 9.28 in late trade, Renault SA (PA:RENA) which lost 2.76% to settle at 31.36 and Atos SE (PA:ATOS) which was down 2.40% to 43.58 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 305 to 291 and 84 ended unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0% to 18.96 a new 6-months high.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.77% or 13.65 to $1784.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.30% or 0.25 to hit $82.69 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.13% or 0.11 to trade at $85.19 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.10% to 1.1644, while EUR/GBP fell 0.07% to 0.8425.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 93.632.
