Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 0.47%, while the SBF 120 index climbed 0.38%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Eurofins Scientific SE (PA:EUFI), which rose 6.18% or 6.30 points to trade at 108.28 at the close. Meanwhile, Hermes International SCA (PA:HRMS) added 2.53% or 39.50 points to end at 1599.50 and Veolia Environnement VE SA (PA:VIE) was up 2.28% or 0.70 points to 31.46 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Carrefour SA (PA:CARR), which fell 5.35% or 0.86 points to trade at 15.21 at the close. Airbus Group SE (PA:AIR) declined 2.45% or 2.51 points to end at 99.99 and WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW) was down 2.36% or 1.39 points to 57.48.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Eurofins Scientific SE (PA:EUFI) which rose 6.18% to 108.28, Sartorius Stedim Biotech SA (PA:STDM) which was up 4.38% to settle at 467.30 and Trigano SA (PA:TRIA) which gained 4.20% to close at 161.30.
The worst performers were Sopra Steria Group SA (PA:SOPR) which was down 8.12% to 146.00 in late trade, TechnipFMC PLC (PA:FTI) which lost 5.77% to settle at 5.07 and Casino Guichard Perrachon SA (PA:CASP) which was down 5.68% to 22.10 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 339 to 257 and 95 ended unchanged.
Shares in Veolia Environnement VE SA (PA:VIE) rose to 5-year highs; up 2.28% or 0.70 to 31.46.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0% to 18.96 a new 52-week low.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.36% or 6.45 to $1765.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.13% or 0.09 to hit $70.64 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.05% or 0.04 to trade at $73.66 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.02% to 1.1259, while EUR/GBP rose 0.24% to 0.8522.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.03% at 96.567.
