Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 0.44% to hit a new 1-month high, while the SBF 120 index climbed 0.52%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Kering SA (PA:PRTP), which rose 3.79% or 17.05 points to trade at 467.50 at the close. Meanwhile, STMicroelectronics NV (PA:STM) added 3.76% or 0.655 points to end at 18.080 and WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW) was up 3.41% or 4.30 points to 130.30 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Veolia Environnement VE SA (PA:VIE), which fell 1.92% or 0.420 points to trade at 21.510 at the close. Credit Agricole SA (PA:CAGR) declined 1.11% or 0.125 points to end at 11.130 and TechnipFMC PLC (PA:FTI) was down 1.07% or 0.25 points to 23.21.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Spie SA (PA:SPIE) which rose 6.19% to 18.360, Klepierre SA (PA:LOIM) which was up 5.56% to settle at 30.01 and Mercialys SA (PA:MERY) which gained 5.16% to close at 11.61.
The worst performers were Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which was down 3.19% to 2.791 in late trade, Faurecia (PA:EPED) which lost 2.21% to settle at 45.51 and Rothschild & Co SCA (PA:ROTH) which was down 2.21% to 26.600 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 289 to 264 and 108 ended unchanged.
Shares in STMicroelectronics NV (PA:STM) rose to 52-week highs; up 3.76% or 0.655 to 18.080. Shares in Spie SA (PA:SPIE) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 6.19% or 1.070 to 18.360.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 1.80% to 15.15.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.14% or 2.15 to $1501.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 2.72% or 1.56 to hit $55.84 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 2.63% or 1.64 to trade at $60.74 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.33% to 1.1006, while EUR/GBP fell 0.08% to 0.8935.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.34% at 98.643.
