Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 0.41% to hit a new 5-year high, while the SBF 120 index added 0.42%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT), which rose 6.72% or 0.976 points to trade at 15.500 at the close. Meanwhile, Sodexo SA (PA:EXHO) added 5.86% or 5.85 points to end at 105.65 and Credit Agricole SA (PA:CAGR) was up 3.37% or 0.410 points to 12.570 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Engie SA (PA:ENGIE), which fell 4.43% or 0.66 points to trade at 14.24 at the close. Veolia Environnement VE SA (PA:VIE) declined 1.77% or 0.410 points to end at 22.730 and Legrand SA (PA:LEGD) was down 1.38% or 0.98 points to 69.92.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Eramet SA (PA:ERMT) which rose 7.51% to 54.40, ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) which was up 6.72% to settle at 15.500 and Sodexo SA (PA:EXHO) which gained 5.86% to close at 105.65.
The worst performers were Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) which was down 4.43% to 14.24 in late trade, Solvay SA (BR:SOLB) which lost 4.12% to settle at 99.00 and Mercialys SA (PA:MERY) which was down 1.98% to 12.39 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 312 to 260 and 88 ended unchanged.
Shares in Credit Agricole SA (PA:CAGR) rose to 52-week highs; rising 3.37% or 0.410 to 12.570.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 11.35% to 11.32 a new 52-week low.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.91% or 28.50 to $1464.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 2.45% or 1.38 to hit $57.73 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 1.65% or 1.02 to trade at $62.76 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.22% to 1.1041, while EUR/GBP rose 0.10% to 0.8615.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.29% at 98.050.
