Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 0.40% to hit a new 5-year high, while the SBF 120 index added 0.33%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE (PA:LVMH), which rose 2.86% or 17.00 points to trade at 611.80 at the close. Meanwhile, ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) added 2.49% or 0.60 points to end at 24.95 and Faurecia (PA:EPED) was up 2.15% or 1.00 points to 47.44 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin SCA (PA:MICP), which fell 1.76% or 2.20 points to trade at 122.95 at the close. Capgemini SE (PA:CAPP) declined 1.63% or 2.50 points to end at 151.00 and Teleperformance SE (PA:TEPRF) was down 1.42% or 4.70 points to 327.10.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were DBV Technologies (PA:DBV) which rose 13.21% to 11.28, Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which was up 5.46% to settle at 30.520 and TechnipFMC PLC (PA:FTI) which gained 4.07% to close at 6.40.
The worst performers were Technip Energies BV (PA:TE) which was down 2.48% to 11.82 in late trade, SEB SA (PA:SEBF) which lost 2.42% to settle at 141.30 and Nexity (PA:NEXI) which was down 2.35% to 43.24 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 315 to 261 and 97 ended unchanged.
Shares in LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE (PA:LVMH) rose to all time highs; gaining 2.86% or 17.00 to 611.80. Shares in ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 2.49% or 0.60 to 24.95.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0% to 18.96 a new 3-months low.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.63% or 10.95 to $1736.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 4.59% or 2.76 to hit $62.94 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 4.26% or 2.71 to trade at $66.38 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.24% to 1.1974, while EUR/GBP fell 0.05% to 0.8683.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.21% at 91.648.
