Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Oil & Gas and Financials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 0.39% to hit a new 1-month high, while the SBF 120 index climbed 0.45%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were STMicroelectronics NV (EPA:STM), which rose 4.39% or 1.41 points to trade at 33.51 at the close. Meanwhile, Capgemini SE (EPA:CAPP) added 3.48% or 5.60 points to end at 166.40 and Alstom SA (EPA:ALSO) was up 3.36% or 0.75 points to 23.04 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Renault SA (EPA:RENA), which fell 3.30% or 1.04 points to trade at 30.62 at the close. TotalEnergies SE (EPA:TTEF) declined 1.75% or 1.02 points to end at 57.14 and Carrefour SA (EPA:CARR) was down 1.75% or 0.29 points to 16.27.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Elior Group (EPA:ELIOR) which rose 11.55% to 2.70, Sartorius Stedim Biotech SA (EPA:STDM) which was up 4.84% to settle at 324.80 and Soitec SA (EPA:SOIT) which gained 4.78% to close at 137.00.
The worst performers were Renault SA (EPA:RENA) which was down 3.30% to 30.62 in late trade, Imerys SA (EPA:IMTP) which lost 2.57% to settle at 38.74 and Ubisoft Entertainment (EPA:UBIP) which was down 2.20% to 27.07 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 309 to 238 and 91 ended unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 2.26% or 38.05 to $1,718.55 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 1.32% or 1.21 to hit $90.58 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.99% or 0.97 to trade at $96.95 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.70% to 1.01, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.17% to 0.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.61% at 109.32.
