Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 0.37% to hit a new 1-month high, while the SBF 120 index climbed 0.34%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Danone SA (PA:DANO), which rose 6.45% or 3.69 points to trade at 60.86 at the close. Meanwhile, STMicroelectronics NV (PA:STM) added 5.62% or 1.87 points to end at 35.04 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) was up 4.07% or 1.16 points to 29.64 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Safran SA (PA:SAF), which fell 3.27% or 3.82 points to trade at 113.00 at the close. Orange SA (PA:ORAN) declined 3.26% or 0.31 points to end at 9.31 and Alstom SA (PA:ALSO) was down 2.90% or 1.06 points to 35.54.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Alten SA (PA:LTEN) which rose 10.33% to 132.40, Danone SA (PA:DANO) which was up 6.45% to settle at 60.86 and STMicroelectronics NV (PA:STM) which gained 5.62% to close at 35.04.
The worst performers were Spie SA (PA:SPIE) which was down 5.26% to 19.99 in late trade, Sopra Steria Group SA (PA:SOPR) which lost 4.98% to settle at 166.00 and DBV Technologies (PA:DBV) which was down 4.45% to 9.36 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 342 to 237 and 94 ended unchanged.
Shares in Danone SA (PA:DANO) rose to 52-week highs; rising 6.45% or 3.69 to 60.86. Shares in ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) rose to 3-years highs; rising 4.07% or 1.16 to 29.64. Shares in Alten SA (PA:LTEN) rose to all time highs; gaining 10.33% or 12.40 to 132.40. Shares in Danone SA (PA:DANO) rose to 52-week highs; rising 6.45% or 3.69 to 60.86.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0% to 18.96 a new 6-months high.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 1.74% or 31.30 to $1831.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.30% or 0.94 to hit $73.33 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 1.34% or 0.99 to trade at $74.86 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.37% to 1.1885, while EUR/GBP fell 0.09% to 0.8511.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.44% at 91.907.
