Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 0.30%, while the SBF 120 index climbed 0.25%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Veolia Environnement VE SA (PA:VIE), which rose 2.23% or 0.72 points to trade at 33.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) added 1.69% or 0.23 points to end at 13.73 and Vivendi SA (PA:VIV) was up 1.47% or 0.17 points to 11.75 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were BNP Paribas SA (PA:BNPP), which fell 1.97% or 1.29 points to trade at 64.11 at the close. ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) declined 1.58% or 0.50 points to end at 31.12 and WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW) was down 1.32% or 0.88 points to 65.75.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Valneva (PA:VLS) which rose 19.77% to 16.540, Mcphy Energy (PA:MCPHY) which was up 5.47% to settle at 19.10 and Albioma SA (PA:ABIO) which gained 4.88% to close at 35.70.
The worst performers were Soitec SA (PA:SOIT) which was down 18.24% to 167.60 in late trade, Virbac SA (PA:VIRB) which lost 3.32% to settle at 379.00 and Ovh Groupe SAS (PA:OVH) which was down 3.28% to 26.41 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 280 to 279 and 81 ended unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0% to 18.96 a new 52-week low.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.01% or 0.20 to $1843.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.55% or 0.47 to hit $86.27 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.57% or 0.50 to trade at $88.94 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.12% to 1.1327, while EUR/GBP fell 0.25% to 0.8313.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 95.608.
