Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Financials and Industrials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 0.30% to hit a new 1-month high, while the SBF 120 index added 0.31%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT), which rose 2.76% or 0.785 points to trade at 29.200 at the close. Meanwhile, Vivendi SA (PA:VIV) added 1.47% or 0.35 points to end at 23.90 and Renault SA (PA:RENA) was up 1.46% or 1.27 points to 88.47 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Carrefour SA (PA:CARR), which fell 3.11% or 0.57 points to trade at 17.94 at the close. LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE (PA:LVMH) declined 1.60% or 4.00 points to end at 245.50 and Kering SA (PA:PRTP) was down 1.14% or 4.60 points to 397.20.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were ALD SA (PA:ALDA) which rose 3.95% to 13.70, Neopost (PA:NPOS) which was up 3.16% to settle at 24.84 and Genfit (PA:GNFT) which gained 2.78% to close at 25.840.
The worst performers were Tarkett (PA:TKTT) which was down 6.45% to 34.54 in late trade, Carrefour SA (PA:CARR) which lost 3.11% to settle at 17.94 and Television Francaise 1 SA (PA:TFFP) which was down 2.90% to 12.380 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 398 to 223 and 86 ended unchanged.
Shares in ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) rose to 3-years highs; rising 2.76% or 0.785 to 29.200. Shares in Vivendi SA (PA:VIV) rose to 52-week highs; rising 1.47% or 0.35 to 23.90.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 4.25% to 10.63.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.30% or 4.00 to $1318.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.08% or 0.05 to hit $61.49 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to trade at $67.62 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.49% to 1.1970, while EUR/GBP fell 0.37% to 0.8828.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.35% at 92.07.
