Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Consumer Services, Financials and Industrials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 0.25% to hit a new all time high, while the SBF 120 index climbed 0.42%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Veolia Environnement VE SA (EPA:VIE), which rose 1.95% or 0.58 points to trade at 30.37 at the close. Meanwhile, Orange SA (EPA:ORAN) added 1.66% or 0.18 points to end at 10.81 and STMicroelectronics NV (EPA:STMPA) was up 1.47% or 0.59 points to 40.43 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Schneider Electric SE (EPA:SCHN), which fell 2.85% or 6.15 points to trade at 209.30 at the close. Thales (EPA:TCFP) declined 1.46% or 2.35 points to end at 158.60 and Edenred SA (EPA:EDEN) was down 1.30% or 0.65 points to 49.22.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Euroapi SAS (EPA:EAPI) which rose 7.24% to 2.71, ID Logistics SAS (EPA:IDLA) which was up 3.48% to settle at 341.50 and Verallia (EPA:VRLA) which gained 3.40% to close at 35.88.
The worst performers were CGG SA (EPA:GEPH) which was down 3.47% to 0.39 in late trade, Worldline SA (EPA:WLN) which lost 2.88% to settle at 10.97 and Schneider Electric SE (EPA:SCHN) which was down 2.85% to 209.30 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 289 to 218 and 110 ended unchanged.
Shares in Veolia Environnement VE SA (EPA:VIE) rose to 52-week highs; rising 1.95% or 0.58 to 30.37.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.69% or 15.10 to $2,192.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.55% or 0.45 to hit $81.17 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.53% or 0.45 to trade at $85.18 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.06% to 1.08, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.10% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 104.06.
