Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 0.24%, while the SBF 120 index added 0.19%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Safran SA (PA:SAF), which rose 3.13% or 3.18 points to trade at 104.82 at the close. Meanwhile, LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE (PA:LVMH) added 1.50% or 9.70 points to end at 658.40 and Compagnie de Saint Gobain SA (PA:SGOB) was up 1.41% or 0.85 points to 61.33 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Atos SE (PA:ATOS), which fell 3.09% or 1.35 points to trade at 42.40 at the close. Alstom SA (PA:ALSO) declined 2.22% or 0.74 points to end at 32.64 and Vinci SA (PA:SGEF) was down 2.02% or 1.86 points to 90.00.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Elis Services SA (PA:ELIS) which rose 3.52% to 16.16, Safran SA (PA:SAF) which was up 3.13% to settle at 104.82 and Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which gained 3.05% to close at 7.255.
The worst performers were Valneva (PA:VLS) which was down 5.63% to 21.120 in late trade, Gaztransport et Technigaz SA (PA:GTT) which lost 4.24% to settle at 66.70 and Atos SE (PA:ATOS) which was down 3.09% to 42.40 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 302 to 290 and 100 ended unchanged.
Shares in Alstom SA (PA:ALSO) fell to 52-week lows; down 2.22% or 0.74 to 32.64.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0% to 18.96 a new 6-months high.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.03% or 0.60 to $1794.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 0.04% or 0.03 to hit $69.27 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.17% or 0.12 to trade at $72.48 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.12% to 1.1827, while EUR/GBP fell 0.45% to 0.8537.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.17% at 92.490.
