France stocks higher at close of trade; CAC 40 up 0.23%

Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 0.23% to hit a new 1-month high, while the SBF 120 index added 0.20%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Pernod Ricard SA (PA:PERP), which rose 2.01% or 3.50 points to trade at 177.20 at the close. Meanwhile, Sanofi SA (PA:SASY) added 1.80% or 1.41 points to end at 79.53 and L’Oreal SA (PA:OREP) was up 1.05% or 2.60 points to 251.20 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT), which fell 1.63% or 0.214 points to trade at 12.878 at the close. Bouygues SA (PA:BOUY) declined 1.62% or 0.56 points to end at 33.99 and Atos SE (PA:ATOS) was down 1.02% or 0.70 points to 68.18.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were CGG SA (PA:GEPH) which rose 14.05% to 2.111, Eramet SA (PA:ERMT) which was up 3.79% to settle at 46.83 and Remy Cointreau (PA:RCOP) which gained 2.40% to close at 140.70.

The worst performers were Genfit (PA:GNFT) which was down 4.03% to 15.250 in late trade, Maisons du Monde SAS (PA:MDM) which lost 2.93% to settle at 15.930 and Tarkett (PA:TKTT) which was down 2.53% to 13.12 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 289 to 273 and 82 ended unchanged.

Shares in Pernod Ricard SA (PA:PERP) rose to all time highs; gaining 2.01% or 3.50 to 177.20. Shares in Remy Cointreau (PA:RCOP) rose to all time highs; gaining 2.40% or 3.30 to 140.70.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 2.63% to 17.41.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.58% or 8.85 to $1538.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 0.58% or 0.32 to hit $54.78 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 1.11% or 0.66 to trade at $58.59 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.15% to 1.0972, while EUR/GBP rose 0.46% to 0.9088.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.09% at 98.947.
