Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 0.22%, while the SBF 120 index climbed 0.24%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Eurofins Scientific SE (PA:EUFI), which rose 2.20% or 1.96 points to trade at 91.17 at the close. Meanwhile, Alstom SA (PA:ALSO) added 2.19% or 0.62 points to end at 28.88 and Veolia Environnement VE SA (PA:VIE) was up 2.11% or 0.68 points to 32.93 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Thales (PA:TCFP), which fell 3.09% or 2.56 points to trade at 80.28 at the close. TotalEnergies SE (PA:TTEF) declined 2.05% or 1.05 points to end at 50.25 and WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW) was down 1.92% or 1.32 points to 67.44.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Atos SE (PA:ATOS) which rose 8.16% to 35.01, Solvay SA (BR:SOLB) which was up 3.01% to settle at 109.35 and Albioma SA (PA:ABIO) which gained 2.75% to close at 35.84.
The worst performers were Elior Group (PA:ELIOR) which was down 6.84% to 4.93 in late trade, Orpea SA (PA:ORP) which lost 3.67% to settle at 38.63 and Ovh Groupe SAS (PA:OVH) which was down 3.18% to 23.57 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 303 to 263 and 83 ended unchanged.
Shares in Elior Group (PA:ELIOR) fell to 52-week lows; down 6.84% or 0.36 to 4.93. Shares in Orpea SA (PA:ORP) fell to 5-year lows; falling 3.67% or 1.47 to 38.63.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.52% or 9.45 to $1810.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.60% or 0.53 to hit $87.67 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.39% or 0.35 to trade at $88.81 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.37% to 1.1310, while EUR/GBP fell 0.02% to 0.8331.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.46% at 95.935.
