Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 0.21% to hit a new 5-year high, while the SBF 120 index gained 0.11%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Kering SA (PA:PRTP), which rose 1.19% or 8.90 points to trade at 758.70 at the close. Meanwhile, STMicroelectronics NV (PA:STM) added 1.14% or 0.36 points to end at 31.86 and BNP Paribas SA (PA:BNPP) was up 1.02% or 0.57 points to 56.31 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT), which fell 3.45% or 0.87 points to trade at 24.36 at the close. Alstom SA (PA:ALSO) declined 2.96% or 1.33 points to end at 43.59 and Atos SE (PA:ATOS) was down 1.89% or 1.02 points to 53.00.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Getlink SE (PA:GETP) which rose 1.77% to 13.52, Eurofins Scientific SE (PA:EUFI) which was up 1.71% to settle at 90.66 and Accor SA (PA:ACCP) which gained 1.55% to close at 35.31.
The worst performers were Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which was down 7.20% to 9.410 in late trade, Eramet SA (PA:ERMT) which lost 4.39% to settle at 51.15 and Imerys SA (PA:IMTP) which was down 4.07% to 41.46 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 360 to 243 and 65 ended unchanged.
Shares in Kering SA (PA:PRTP) rose to all time highs; gaining 1.19% or 8.90 to 758.70. Shares in Atos SE (PA:ATOS) fell to 52-week lows; losing 1.89% or 1.02 to 53.00. Shares in Eurofins Scientific SE (PA:EUFI) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 1.71% or 1.52 to 90.66.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0% to 18.96 a new 3-months low.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 4.55% or 84.65 to $1776.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 2.44% or 1.76 to hit $70.39 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 2.50% or 1.86 to trade at $72.53 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.68% to 1.1912, while EUR/GBP fell 0.16% to 0.8559.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.73% at 91.877.
