Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 0.19%, while the SBF 120 index gained 0.20%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were STMicroelectronics NV (PA:STM), which rose 2.44% or 0.600 points to trade at 25.200 at the close. Meanwhile, EssilorLuxottica SA (PA:ESLX) added 1.62% or 2.25 points to end at 141.15 and Safran SA (PA:SAF) was up 1.42% or 1.95 points to 139.45 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Sodexo SA (PA:EXHO), which fell 6.29% or 6.75 points to trade at 100.50 at the close. WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW) declined 1.44% or 1.95 points to end at 133.75 and Renault SA (PA:RENA) was down 1.31% or 0.56 points to 42.08.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were DBV Technologies (PA:DBV) which rose 14.17% to 23.040, Air France KLM SA (PA:AIRF) which was up 4.03% to settle at 9.820 and STMicroelectronics (MI:STM) which gained 2.40% to close at 25.210.

The worst performers were Sodexo SA (PA:EXHO) which was down 6.29% to 100.50 in late trade, Ipsen SA (PA:IPN) which lost 4.50% to settle at 78.60 and CGG SA (PA:GEPH) which was down 3.70% to 2.916 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 334 to 241 and 87 ended unchanged.

Shares in STMicroelectronics NV (PA:STM) rose to 5-year highs; up 2.44% or 0.600 to 25.200. Shares in DBV Technologies (PA:DBV) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 14.17% or 2.860 to 23.040. Shares in STMicroelectronics (MI:STM) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 2.40% or 0.590 to 25.210.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 1.57% to 13.78.

Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.62% or 9.75 to $1550.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 0.07% or 0.04 to hit $59.57 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.14% or 0.09 to trade at $65.53 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.01% to 1.1104, while EUR/GBP rose 0.31% to 0.8501.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.18% at 97.170.
