Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 0.17% to hit a new 5-year high, while the SBF 120 index gained 0.20%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Atos SE (PA:ATOS), which rose 2.61% or 1.76 points to trade at 69.16 at the close. Meanwhile, Safran SA (PA:SAF) added 2.01% or 2.80 points to end at 142.40 and Compagnie de Saint Gobain SA (PA:SGOB) was up 1.87% or 0.69 points to 37.55 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Orange SA (PA:ORAN), which fell 2.58% or 0.38 points to trade at 14.17 at the close. WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW) declined 1.23% or 1.75 points to end at 140.00 and Thales (PA:TCFP) was down 1.02% or 0.90 points to 86.94.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were SES (PA:SESFd) which rose 4.20% to 18.11, SEB SA (PA:SEBF) which was up 3.50% to settle at 138.80 and Virbac SA (PA:VIRB) which gained 3.04% to close at 220.50.
The worst performers were Genfit (PA:GNFT) which was down 3.57% to 13.500 in late trade, Iliad (PA:ILD) which lost 2.93% to settle at 90.82 and Orange SA (PA:ORAN) which was down 2.58% to 14.17 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 313 to 253 and 94 ended unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 0.31% to 13.38.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.38% or 5.75 to $1490.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to hit $55.81 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.16% or 0.10 to trade at $61.47 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.09% to 1.1108, while EUR/GBP rose 0.17% to 0.8640.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.03% at 97.498.
