Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 0.13% to hit a new all time high, while the SBF 120 index climbed 0.06%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT), which rose 3.98% or 1.09 points to trade at 28.45 at the close. Meanwhile, Eurofins Scientific SE (PA:EUFI) added 3.56% or 3.60 points to end at 104.74 and STMicroelectronics NV (PA:STM) was up 1.95% or 0.85 points to 44.25 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Alstom SA (PA:ALSO), which fell 5.34% or 1.87 points to trade at 33.14 at the close. Renault SA (PA:RENA) declined 3.69% or 1.26 points to end at 33.03 and WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW) was down 2.96% or 2.03 points to 66.61.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Eramet SA (PA:ERMT) which rose 5.33% to 73.15, Aperam SA (AS:APAM) which was up 4.31% to settle at 51.74 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) which gained 3.98% to close at 28.45.
The worst performers were Alstom SA (PA:ALSO) which was down 5.34% to 33.14 in late trade, Spie SA (PA:SPIE) which lost 4.05% to settle at 21.82 and Trigano SA (PA:TRIA) which was down 3.76% to 166.20 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 301 to 289 and 104 ended unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0% to 18.96 a new 6-months high.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.86% or 15.85 to $1864.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.68% or 0.55 to hit $81.89 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.47% or 0.39 to trade at $83.03 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.07% to 1.1470, while EUR/GBP rose 0.05% to 0.8565.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.18% at 95.013.
