Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Financials and Healthcare sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 0.13% to hit a new 52-week high, while the SBF 120 index gained 0.08%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Societe Generale SA (PA:SOGN), which rose 3.87% or 0.85 points to trade at 22.81 at the close. Meanwhile, ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) added 3.83% or 0.85 points to end at 23.20 and Stellantis NV (PA:STLA) was up 3.08% or 0.46 points to 15.40 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW), which fell 3.28% or 2.38 points to trade at 70.20 at the close. Alstom SA (PA:ALSO) declined 2.79% or 1.17 points to end at 40.75 and Danone SA (PA:DANO) was down 1.60% or 0.96 points to 58.88.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Sartorius Stedim Biotech SA (PA:STDM) which rose 6.21% to 359.00, Casino Guichard Perrachon SA (PA:CASP) which was up 4.71% to settle at 28.88 and Eramet SA (PA:ERMT) which gained 3.94% to close at 58.00.
The worst performers were Technip Energies BV (PA:TE) which was down 7.45% to 13.60 in late trade, Elior Group (PA:ELIOR) which lost 6.60% to settle at 6.29 and Virbac SA (PA:VIRB) which was down 5.11% to 223.00 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 299 to 290 and 87 ended unchanged.
Shares in Societe Generale SA (PA:SOGN) rose to 52-week highs; rising 3.87% or 0.85 to 22.81. Shares in ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) rose to 52-week highs; up 3.83% or 0.85 to 23.20.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0% to 18.96 a new 3-months low.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.35% or 6.00 to $1733.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 8.08% or 5.22 to hit $59.38 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 7.84% or 5.33 to trade at $62.67 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.55% to 1.1912, while EUR/GBP fell 0.25% to 0.8555.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.50% at 91.892.
