Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 0.13% to hit a new 5-year high, while the SBF 120 index added 0.15%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Accor SA (PA:ACCP), which rose 2.07% or 0.85 points to trade at 41.99 at the close. Meanwhile, TechnipFMC PLC (PA:FTI) added 0.89% or 0.17 points to end at 18.77 and LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE (PA:LVMH) was up 0.80% or 3.30 points to 413.80 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Renault SA (PA:RENA), which fell 1.60% or 0.70 points to trade at 43.24 at the close. ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) declined 1.34% or 0.216 points to end at 15.950 and Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP) was down 1.21% or 0.27 points to 21.99.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Virbac SA (PA:VIRB) which rose 8.28% to 242.00, Tarkett (PA:TKTT) which was up 5.32% to settle at 14.06 and Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which gained 3.74% to close at 2.744.
The worst performers were Quadient SA (PA:QDT) which was down 2.67% to 21.84 in late trade, Trigano SA (PA:TRIA) which lost 1.92% to settle at 94.60 and Ipsen SA (PA:IPN) which was down 1.86% to 79.35 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 331 to 268 and 86 ended unchanged.
Shares in LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE (PA:LVMH) rose to all time highs; gaining 0.80% or 3.30 to 413.80. Shares in Virbac SA (PA:VIRB) rose to 3-years highs; up 8.28% or 18.50 to 242.00.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 6.93% to 10.46 a new 52-week low.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.48% or 7.05 to $1487.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.18% or 0.11 to hit $60.55 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.32% or 0.21 to trade at $66.35 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.12% to 1.1092, while EUR/GBP rose 0.59% to 0.8575.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 97.268.
