Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 0.11% to hit a new 6-months high, while the SBF 120 index added 0.02%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Veolia Environnement VE SA (PA:VIE), which rose 2.39% or 0.45 points to trade at 19.25 at the close. Meanwhile, L’Oreal SA (PA:OREP) added 2.33% or 6.90 points to end at 302.80 and Alstom SA (PA:ALSO) was up 2.15% or 0.92 points to 43.79 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Airbus Group SE (PA:AIR), which fell 2.18% or 2.04 points to trade at 91.46 at the close. Bouygues SA (PA:BOUY) declined 1.64% or 0.56 points to end at 33.63 and Compagnie de Saint Gobain SA (PA:SGOB) was down 1.50% or 0.61 points to 39.98.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Compagnie Plastic Omnium SA (PA:PLOF) which rose 6.29% to 28.04, Eutelsat Communications SA (PA:ETL) which was up 3.59% to settle at 9.69 and Maisons du Monde SAS (PA:MDM) which gained 3.07% to close at 13.77.
The worst performers were TechnipFMC PLC (PA:FTI) which was down 6.44% to 7.50 in late trade, ICADE (PA:ICAD) which lost 4.63% to settle at 64.85 and Aeroports de Paris SA (PA:ADP) which was down 4.44% to 109.70 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 297 to 278 and 88 ended unchanged.
Shares in Compagnie Plastic Omnium SA (PA:PLOF) rose to 52-week highs; rising 6.29% or 1.66 to 28.04.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 1.39% to 20.90 a new 3-months low.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.21% or 3.70 to $1808.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.78% or 0.35 to hit $45.26 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.57% or 0.27 to trade at $48.05 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.11% to 1.1901, while EUR/GBP fell 0.02% to 0.8895.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.16% at 92.073.
