Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 0.11%, while the SBF 120 index gained 0.35%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Publicis Groupe SA (PA:PUBP), which rose 4.64% or 1.12 points to trade at 25.26 at the close. Meanwhile, ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) added 4.19% or 0.32 points to end at 7.91 and Renault SA (PA:RENA) was up 2.90% or 0.49 points to 17.48 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were STMicroelectronics NV (PA:STM), which fell 2.96% or 0.66 points to trade at 21.61 at the close. WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW) declined 2.14% or 0.95 points to end at 43.43 and Compagnie de Saint Gobain SA (PA:SGOB) was down 1.15% or 0.27 points to 23.12.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Wendel (PA:MWDP) which rose 7.82% to 75.80, Eutelsat Communications SA (PA:ETL) which was up 7.40% to settle at 9.67 and Compagnie Plastic Omnium SA (PA:PLOF) which gained 6.71% to close at 16.86.

The worst performers were Genfit (PA:GNFT) which was down 14.50% to 5.10 in late trade, Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which lost 4.62% to settle at 0.930 and CGG SA (PA:GEPH) which was down 3.25% to 0.966 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 350 to 217 and 76 ended unchanged.

Shares in Genfit (PA:GNFT) fell to 5-year lows; falling 14.50% or 0.86 to 5.10.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 5.99% to 32.60.

Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.95% or 16.50 to $1757.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 6.28% or 1.73 to hit $29.29 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 3.98% or 1.24 to trade at $32.37 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.02% to 1.0807, while EUR/GBP rose 0.93% to 0.8917.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 100.487.
