Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 0.10% to hit a new 5-year high, while the SBF 120 index climbed 0.10%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT), which rose 3.11% or 0.92 points to trade at 30.46 at the close. Meanwhile, Alstom SA (PA:ALSO) added 2.31% or 0.81 points to end at 35.94 and Publicis Groupe SA (PA:PUBP) was up 1.11% or 0.60 points to 54.70 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were EssilorLuxottica SA (PA:ESLX), which fell 1.77% or 2.94 points to trade at 163.16 at the close. Worldline SA (PA:WLN) declined 1.59% or 1.26 points to end at 77.86 and Societe Generale SA (PA:SOGN) was down 0.63% or 0.17 points to 27.41.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Imerys SA (PA:IMTP) which rose 3.41% to 40.66, ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) which was up 3.11% to settle at 30.46 and Solutions 30 SE (PA:S30) which gained 2.59% to close at 6.92.
The worst performers were Valneva (PA:VLS) which was down 13.69% to 10.910 in late trade, Elis Services SA (PA:ELIS) which lost 1.83% to settle at 15.57 and EssilorLuxottica SA (PA:ESLX) which was down 1.77% to 163.16 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 300 to 278 and 90 ended unchanged.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0% to 18.96 a new 6-months high.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.35% or 6.05 to $1732.55 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 3.04% or 2.02 to hit $68.50 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 2.65% or 1.83 to trade at $70.87 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.14% to 1.1721, while EUR/GBP fell 0.08% to 0.8469.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.13% at 93.058.
