Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 0.03%, while the SBF 120 index added 0.09%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Accor SA (PA:ACCP), which rose 1.87% or 0.71 points to trade at 38.63 at the close. Meanwhile, ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) added 1.43% or 0.220 points to end at 15.554 and Compagnie de Saint Gobain SA (PA:SGOB) was up 1.40% or 0.52 points to 37.69 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Renault SA (PA:RENA), which fell 1.85% or 0.79 points to trade at 41.54 at the close. Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP) declined 1.03% or 0.22 points to end at 21.24 and Orange SA (PA:ORAN) was down 1.02% or 0.14 points to 13.56.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Coface (PA:COFA) which rose 5.09% to 10.53, Nexans SA (PA:NEXS) which was up 5.07% to settle at 38.53 and Television Francaise 1 SA (PA:TFFP) which gained 4.89% to close at 7.615.
The worst performers were SEB SA (PA:SEBF) which was down 3.82% to 136.10 in late trade, Renault SA (PA:RENA) which lost 1.85% to settle at 41.54 and Ipsen SA (PA:IPN) which was down 1.82% to 97.30 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 333 to 206 and 116 ended unchanged.
Shares in Renault SA (PA:RENA) fell to 5-year lows; down 1.85% or 0.79 to 41.54. Shares in Nexans SA (PA:NEXS) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 5.07% or 1.86 to 38.53. Shares in Renault SA (PA:RENA) fell to 5-year lows; losing 1.85% or 0.79 to 41.54.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 1.37% to 15.13.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.27% or 3.95 to $1484.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.19% or 0.11 to hit $58.32 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.27% or 0.17 to trade at $63.17 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.26% to 1.1104, while EUR/GBP fell 0.16% to 0.8438.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.26% at 97.347.
