Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 0.01% to hit a new 52-week high, while the SBF 120 index added 0.04%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW), which rose 6.03% or 3.76 points to trade at 66.16 at the close. Meanwhile, Total SA (PA:TOTF) added 3.18% or 1.25 points to end at 40.56 and Safran SA (PA:SAF) was up 2.66% or 3.15 points to 121.75 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Vivendi SA (PA:VIV), which fell 4.21% or 1.23 points to trade at 28.02 at the close. STMicroelectronics NV (PA:STM) declined 3.78% or 1.15 points to end at 29.25 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) was down 3.25% or 0.68 points to 20.09.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Maisons du Monde SAS (PA:MDM) which rose 7.88% to 17.26, WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW) which was up 6.03% to settle at 66.16 and CGG SA (PA:GEPH) which gained 5.28% to close at 1.076.
The worst performers were Eramet SA (PA:ERMT) which was down 5.34% to 60.32 in late trade, Imerys SA (PA:IMTP) which lost 4.45% to settle at 42.92 and Vivendi SA (PA:VIV) which was down 4.21% to 28.02 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 359 to 226 and 77 ended unchanged.
Shares in Total SA (PA:TOTF) rose to 52-week highs; up 3.18% or 1.25 to 40.56.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0% to 18.96 a new 1-month low.
Gold Futures for April delivery was down 1.17% or 20.15 to $1695.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 4.96% or 3.04 to hit $64.32 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 4.84% or 3.10 to trade at $67.17 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.58% to 1.1992, while EUR/GBP fell 0.32% to 0.8614.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.58% at 91.472.
