Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Aerospace & Defense, Health Care Equipment & Services Financial and Leisure Goods sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 0.94% to hit a new 5-year high, while the SBF 120 index gained 1.04%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Airbus Group (PARIS:AIR), which rose 4.76% or 2.69 points to trade at 59.21 at the close. Meanwhile, Accor (PARIS:ACCP) added 3.73% or 1.74 points to end at 48.35 and Safran (PARIS:SAF) was up 2.98% or 1.90 points to 65.67 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Gemalto (AMS:GTO), which fell 2.49% or 1.80 points to trade at 70.40 at the close. EDF (PARIS:EDF) declined 2.43% or 0.57 points to end at 23.09 and Solvay (BRU:SOLB) was down 0.61% or 0.80 points to 130.00.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Arkema (PARIS:AKE) which rose 6.18% to 69.90, Airbus Group (PARIS:AIR) which was up 4.76% to settle at 59.21 and Eurofins Scientific (PARIS:EUFI) which gained 4.54% to close at 250.00.
The worst performers were Gemalto (AMS:GTO) which was down 2.49% to 70.40 in late trade, EDF (PARIS:EDF) which lost 2.43% to settle at 23.09 and Vallourec (PARIS:VLLP) which was down 2.27% to 22.14 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 628 to 309 and 25 ended unchanged.

Shares in Safran (PARIS:SAF) rose to all time highs; up 2.98% or 1.90 to 65.67. Shares in Airbus Group (PARIS:AIR) rose to all time highs; gaining 4.76% or 2.69 to 59.21. Shares in Eurofins Scientific (PARIS:EUFI) rose to all time highs; rising 4.54% or 10.85 to 250.00.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 4.13% to 16.58.
Gold for April delivery was down 0.03% or 0.40 to $1200.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude Oil for delivery in April fell 0.60% or 0.31 to hit $51.22 a barrel, while the April Brent Oil contract rose 0.34% or 0.20 to trade at $60.76 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.61% to 1.1010, while EUR/GBP fell 0.37% to 0.7232.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.53% at 96.49.
