Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Pharmaceuticals & Biotech, Health Care and Health Care Equipment & Services Financial sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 0.65% to hit a new 5-year high, while the SBF 120 index gained 0.68%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Essilor International (PARIS:ESSI), which rose 2.21% or 2.19 points to trade at 101.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Sanofi (PARIS:SASY) added 1.90% or 1.66 points to end at 89.05 and Cap Gemini (PARIS:CAPP) was up 1.75% or 1.19 points to 69.23 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Technip (PARIS:TECF), which fell 1.46% or 0.86 points to trade at 57.90 at the close. Arcelormittal (AMS:ISPA) declined 0.98% or 0.09 points to end at 9.55 and Credit Agricole (PARIS:CAGR) was down 0.97% or 0.125 points to 12.770.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Euler Hermes (PARIS:ELER) which rose 4.25% to 93.49, Innate Pharma (PARIS:IPH) which was up 3.98% to settle at 9.670 and Euronext (PARIS:ENX) which gained 3.28% to close at 31.50.
The worst performers were Coface (PARIS:COFA) which was down 6.13% to 10.63 in late trade, CGG (PARIS:GEPH) which lost 4.49% to settle at 6.03 and CNP Assurances (PARIS:CNPP) which was down 3.14% to 14.640 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 543 to 381 and 45 ended unchanged.
Shares in Essilor International (PARIS:ESSI) rose to all time highs; up 2.21% or 2.19 to 101.50. Shares in Cap Gemini (PARIS:CAPP) rose to 5-year highs; rising 1.75% or 1.19 to 69.23. Shares in Euronext (PARIS:ENX) rose to all time highs; up 3.28% or 1.00 to 31.50.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 11.78% to 18.75 a new 1-month low.
Gold for April delivery was down 0.39% or 4.70 to $1200.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude Oil for delivery in April fell 3.23% or 1.64 to hit $49.17 a barrel, while the April Brent Oil contract fell 1.82% or 1.09 to trade at $59.12 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.39% to 1.1339, while EUR/GBP fell 0.76% to 0.7330.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.25% at 94.64.
