Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Travel & Leisure, Basic Materials and Personal Goods sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 0.74% to hit a new 5-year high, while the SBF 120 index climbed 0.90%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Arcelormittal (AMS:ISPA), which rose 2.08% or 0.17 points to trade at 8.47 at the close. Meanwhile, Bouygues (PARIS:BOUY) added 2.07% or 0.67 points to end at 33.02 and Cap Gemini (PARIS:CAPP) was up 2.03% or 1.30 points to 65.20 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Credit Agricole (PARIS:CAGR), which fell 0.89% or 0.100 points to trade at 11.150 at the close. Sanofi (PARIS:SASY) declined 0.75% or 0.63 points to end at 82.95 and Alstom (PARIS:ALSO) was down 0.59% or 0.17 points to 28.55.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were CGG (PARIS:GEPH) which rose 8.50% to 5.13, Solocal Group (PARIS:LOCAL) which was up 6.10% to settle at 0.730 and Air France KLM SA (PARIS:AIRF) which gained 5.54% to close at 8.136.
The worst performers were Artprice Com (PARIS:ARTF) which was down 3.38% to 14.30 in late trade, Bourbon (PARIS:GPBN) which lost 1.44% to settle at 18.50 and Soitec (PARIS:SOIT) which was down 1.10% to 0.900 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 595 to 304 and 56 ended unchanged.
Shares in Cap Gemini (PARIS:CAPP) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 2.03% or 1.30 to 65.20.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 6.06% to 20.20 a new 1-month low.
Gold for April delivery was down 0.88% or 11.40 to $1282.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude Oil for delivery in March rose 1.34% or 0.61 to hit $46.20 a barrel, while the March Brent Oil contract rose 0.54% or 0.27 to trade at $49.05 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.58% to 1.1268, while EUR/GBP rose 0.04% to 0.7474.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.22% at 95.11.
