Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Gas Water, Foods & Drugs and Pharmaceuticals & Biotech sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 0.51%, while the SBF 120 index added 0.41%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were GDF Suez (PARIS:GSZ), which rose 1.53% or 0.30 points to trade at 19.95 at the close. Meanwhile, Carrefour (PARIS:CARR) added 1.43% or 0.35 points to end at 25.23 and Publicis Groupe SA (PARIS:PUBP) was up 1.35% or 0.81 points to 60.71 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Accor (PARIS:ACCP), which fell 0.72% or 0.27 points to trade at 37.34 at the close. AXA SA (PARIS:AXAF) declined 0.72% or 0.14 points to end at 19.39 and Societe Generale (PARIS:SOGN) was down 0.55% or 0.20 points to 35.26.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Technicolor (PARIS:TCH) which rose 7.07% to 4.679, Soitec (PARIS:SOIT) which was up 6.98% to settle at 0.920 and Artprice Com (PARIS:ARTF) which gained 3.91% to close at 13.29.
The worst performers were Bourbon (PARIS:GPBN) which was down 3.03% to 19.20 in late trade, Euler Hermes (PARIS:ELER) which lost 2.87% to settle at 81.42 and Maurel Et Prom (PARIS:MAUP) which was down 2.64% to 7.60 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 424 to 335 and 45 ended unchanged.
Gold for February delivery was down 1.15% or 13.80 to $1181.50 a troy ounce.
Elsewhere in commodities trading, crude oil for delivery in February fell 1.72% or 0.94 to hit $53.79 a barrel, while the February brent oil contract fell 1.88% or 1.11 to trade at $58.34 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.07% to 1.2172, while EUR/GBP rose 0.20% to 0.7846.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.08% at 90.39.
