Investing.com - Euro zone stocks climbed on the first trading day of 2017 on Monday for those markets that were open.
Italy's FTSE MIB rose 1.21%, Germany's DAX was up 0.86% and France's CAC added 0.35%.
Trading volumes were thin with several major markets, including the UK, closed for the New Year holiday.
Markets in the U.S. and Canada were also to be closed Monday.
