Investing.com – China stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Telecoms, Mobile and Travel & Leisure sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Shanghai, the Shanghai Composite lost 7.63% to hit a new 6-months low, while the SZSE Component index declined 7.04%.
The best performers of the session on the Shanghai Composite were Cn Fortune Lan (SS:600340), which rose 8.34% or 1.850 points to trade at 24.040 at the close. Meanwhile, Sh Intl Port (SS:600018) added 8.22% or 0.530 points to end at 6.980 and Shenqi Phar (SS:600613) was up 7.40% or 1.440 points to 20.900 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Hainan Airline (SS:600221), which fell 10.09% or 0.440 points to trade at 3.920 at the close. Tianjin Dev SS (SS:600322) declined 10.08% or 0.500 points to end at 4.460 and Bj North Star (SS:601588) was down 10.08% or 0.530 points to 4.730.
The top performers on the SZSE Component were Goldleaf Jewelry Co Ltd (SZ:000587) which rose 5.50% to 18.80, Sichuan Jinlu Group Co Ltd (SZ:000510) which was up 4.99% to settle at 10.52 and Gree Electric Appliances Inc of Zhuhai (SZ:000651) which gained 1.52% to close at 17.41.
The worst performers were Pangang Group Vanadium Titanium & Resources Co Ltd (SZ:000629) which was down 10.10% to 3.65 in late trade, Angang Steel Co Ltd (SZ:000898) which lost 10.07% to settle at 5.09 and Jiangsu Sihuan Bioengineering Co Ltd (SZ:000518) which was down 10.06% to 4.83 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Shanghai Stock Exchange by 935 to 18.
Shares in Sichuan Jinlu Group Co Ltd (SZ:000510) rose to all time highs; gaining 4.99% or 0.50 to 10.52.
The CBOE China Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Shanghai Composite options, was up 44.16% to 58.40 a new 3-years high.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.42% or 4.90 to $1148.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 1.95% or 0.74 to hit $38.98 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 1.96% or 0.83 to trade at $43.52 a barrel.
USD/CNY was up 0.20% to 6.4174, while EUR/CNY fell 0.36% to 7.4124.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.32% at 93.69.
