Investing.com – China stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Gas, Water & Multiutilities, Retailers and Software & Computer Services sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Shanghai, the Shanghai Composite lost 7.38% to hit a new 1-month low, while the SZSE Component index lost 8.24%.
The best performers of the session on the Shanghai Composite were Talimu Agric (SS:600359), which rose 10.02% or 1.710 points to trade at 18.770 at the close. Meanwhile, Golden Eagle SS (SS:600232) added 10.02% or 1.360 points to end at 14.930 and Sinopec Oilfield Service Corp (SS:600871) was up 10.01% or 1.060 points to 11.650 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Shandong Iron (SS:600022), which fell 10.06% or 0.690 points to trade at 6.170 at the close. Chongqing Stee (SS:601005) declined 10.06% or 0.640 points to end at 5.720 and Tianjin Dev SS (SS:600322) was down 10.05% or 0.880 points to 7.880.
The top performers on the SZSE Component were Sichuan Jinlu Group Co Ltd (SZ:000510) which rose 5.01% to 6.71, Shanghai RAAS Blood Products Co Ltd (SZ:002252) which was up 3.57% to settle at 61.00 and Beihai Yinhe Industry Investment Co Ltd (SZ:000806) which gained 0.47% to close at 27.80.
The worst performers were Tieling Newcity Investment Holding Ltd (SZ:000809) which was down 10.03% to 12.11 in late trade, Shandong Humon Smelting Co Ltd (SZ:002237) which lost 10.03% to settle at 12.02 and Shanxi Xishan Coal and Electricity Power Co Ltd (SZ:000983) which was down 10.03% to 8.97 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Shanghai Stock Exchange by 959 to 25.
Shares in Talimu Agric (SS:600359) rose to 3-years highs; up 10.02% or 1.710 to 18.770. Shares in Golden Eagle SS (SS:600232) rose to all time highs; up 10.02% or 1.360 to 14.930. Shares in Sinopec Oilfield Service Corp (SS:600871) rose to all time highs; rising 10.01% or 1.060 to 11.650. Shares in Shandong Humon Smelting Co Ltd (SZ:002237) fell to 52-week lows; losing 10.03% or 1.34 to 12.02.
The CBOE China Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Shanghai Composite options, was down 0.79% to 27.58 a new 1-month low.
Gold for August delivery was up 0.28% or 3.30 to $1175.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.08% or 0.04 to hit $59.66 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.21% or 0.14 to trade at $63.34 a barrel.
USD/CNY was down 0.01% to 6.2085, while EUR/CNY fell 0.06% to 6.9544.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.04% at 95.41.
