Investing.com – China stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Software & Computer Services, Telecoms and Mobile sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Shanghai, the Shanghai Composite lost 1.30% to hit a new 6-months low, while the SZSE Component index fell 2.92%.
The best performers of the session on the Shanghai Composite were C&T Tech Dev (SS:600149), which rose 10.03% or 1.280 points to trade at 14.040 at the close. Meanwhile, Shenqi Phar (SS:600613) added 10.02% or 2.100 points to end at 23.050 and Hongdou Ind (SS:600400) was up 10.00% or 1.290 points to 14.190 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Dongyangguang (SS:600673), which fell 10.06% or 0.670 points to trade at 5.990 at the close. Jinxi Axle (SS:600495) declined 10.05% or 0.880 points to end at 7.880 and Ginwa (SS:600080) was down 10.04% or 0.900 points to 8.060.
The top performers on the SZSE Component were BYD Co Ltd (SZ:002594) which rose 9.99% to 44.37, COFCO Property Group Co Ltd (SZ:000031) which was up 9.41% to settle at 16.75 and XCMG Construction Machinery Co Ltd (SZ:000425) which gained 9.04% to close at 11.70.
The worst performers were JiangSu JiangHuai Engine Co Ltd (SZ:000816) which was down 10.06% to 5.99 in late trade, Hebei Iron and Steel Co Ltd (SZ:000709) which lost 10.05% to settle at 5.10 and Sinopec Shandong Taishan Petroleum Co Ltd (SZ:000554) which was down 10.04% to 8.33 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Shanghai Stock Exchange by 667 to 281.
The CBOE China Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Shanghai Composite options, was down 9.20% to 53.03.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.12% or 1.40 to $1136.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 0.04% or 0.01 to hit $39.30 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.23% or 0.10 to trade at $43.11 a barrel.
USD/CNY was up 0.05% to 6.4161, while EUR/CNY fell 0.12% to 7.3785.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.24% at 94.14.
