Investing.com – China stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Technology Hardware & Equipment, Retailers and Media sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Shanghai, the Shanghai Composite rose 1.89% to hit a new 3-years high, while the SZSE Component index added 3.49%.
The best performers of the session on the Shanghai Composite were Sh Shenhua (SS:600653), which rose 10.06% or 0.650 points to trade at 7.110 at the close. Meanwhile, Wintime Energy (SS:600157) added 10.05% or 0.79 points to end at 8.65 and China Shipping (SS:601866) was up 10.05% or 0.980 points to 10.730 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Comm City (SS:600306), which fell 6.78% or 1.94 points to trade at 26.68 at the close. Sunyard (SS:600571) declined 6.10% or 10.110 points to end at 155.570 and Kingdom SS (SS:600446) was down 5.42% or 13.130 points to 229.180.
The top performers on the SZSE Component were Hangzhou Hikvision Digital Technology Co Ltd (SZ:002415) which rose 10.00% to 45.10, BYD Co Ltd (SZ:002594) which was up 10.00% to settle at 72.81 and Gree Electric Appliances Inc of Zhuhai (SZ:000651) which gained 7.93% to close at 58.38.
The worst performers were Leshi Internet Info Tech (SZ:300104) which was down 1.91% to 73.08 in late trade, Iflytek Co Ltd (SZ:002230) which lost 0.80% to settle at 55.52 and Changjiang Securities Co Ltd (SZ:000783) which was down 0.34% to 17.42 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Shanghai Stock Exchange by 864 to 101.
Shares in Sh Shenhua (SS:600653) rose to all time highs; up 10.06% or 0.650 to 7.110. Shares in Wintime Energy (SS:600157) rose to all time highs; gaining 10.05% or 0.79 to 8.65. Shares in Hangzhou Hikvision Digital Technology Co Ltd (SZ:002415) rose to all time highs; gaining 10.00% or 4.10 to 45.10. Shares in BYD Co Ltd (SZ:002594) rose to all time highs; rising 10.00% or 6.62 to 72.81. Shares in Gree Electric Appliances Inc of Zhuhai (SZ:000651) rose to all time highs; gaining 7.93% or 4.29 to 58.38.
The CBOE China Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Shanghai Composite options, was down 0.90% to 28.68.
Gold for June delivery was up 0.07% or 0.90 to $1209.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.43% or 0.26 to hit $59.23 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.38% or 0.24 to trade at $65.28 a barrel.
USD/CNY was down 0.09% to 6.1980, while EUR/CNY rose 0.12% to 6.8908.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.11% at 95.55.
