Investing.com – China stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Electricity, Utilities and Telecoms sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Shanghai, the Shanghai Composite added 0.90%, while the SZSE Component index gained 0.28%.
The best performers of the session on the Shanghai Composite were Mengdian (SS:600863), which rose 10.08% or 0.600 points to trade at 6.550 at the close. Meanwhile, Wuhan Steel (SS:600005) added 10.08% or 0.650 points to end at 7.100 and Dalong Weiye (SS:600159) was up 10.07% or 0.680 points to 7.430 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Great Wisdom (SS:601519), which fell 10.01% or 3.350 points to trade at 30.130 at the close. Shenda (SS:600626) declined 9.99% or 2.390 points to end at 21.530 and Sh Ind Develop (SS:600748) was down 8.26% or 1.510 points to 16.780.
The top performers on the SZSE Component were Beijing Originwater Technology (SZ:300070) which rose 7.14% to 51.80, Suning Commerce Group Co Ltd (SZ:002024) which was up 6.49% to settle at 13.95 and Pangang Group Vanadium Titanium & Resources Co Ltd (SZ:000629) which gained 4.49% to close at 5.59.
The worst performers were Iflytek Co Ltd (SZ:002230) which was down 4.23% to 46.83 in late trade, Leshi Internet Info Tech (SZ:300104) which lost 4.20% to settle at 126.25 and Midea Group Co Ltd (SZ:000333) which was down 2.41% to 36.08 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Shanghai Stock Exchange by 579 to 382.
Shares in Mengdian (SS:600863) rose to all time highs; up 10.08% or 0.600 to 6.550. Shares in Wuhan Steel (SS:600005) rose to 3-years highs; rising 10.08% or 0.650 to 7.100. Shares in Dalong Weiye (SS:600159) rose to 3-years highs; up 10.07% or 0.680 to 7.430. Shares in Beijing Originwater Technology (SZ:300070) rose to all time highs; gaining 7.14% or 3.45 to 51.80.
The CBOE China Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Shanghai Composite options, was down 2.34% to 30.10.
Gold for June delivery was up 0.68% or 8.00 to $1182.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.28% or 0.17 to hit $59.31 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.17% or 0.12 to trade at $66.58 a barrel.
USD/CNY was up 0.12% to 6.2084, while EUR/CNY fell 0.37% to 6.9321.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.18% at 95.55.
