Investing.com – Canada stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Materials, Energy and REITs sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite added 0.35%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Energy Fuels Inc. (TSX:EFR), which rose 9.22% or 0.86 points to trade at 10.19 at the close. Meanwhile, Orla Mining Ltd (TSX:OLA) added 7.93% or 0.44 points to end at 5.99 and Denison Mines Corp (TSX:DML) was up 7.85% or 0.23 points to 3.16 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Mattr Corp (TSX:MATR), which fell 4.57% or 0.63 points to trade at 13.15 at the close. Boralex Inc (TSX:BLX) declined 4.25% or 1.35 points to end at 30.45 and Shopify Inc (TSX:SHOP) was down 2.87% or 4.38 points to 148.49.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 571 to 376 and 85 ended unchanged.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was up 4.84% to 10.61.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.74% or 44.80 to $2,614.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 3.47% or 2.32 to hit $69.24 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 3.29% or 2.34 to trade at $73.38 a barrel.
CAD/USD was unchanged 0.54% to 0.71, while CAD/EUR unchanged 0.06% to 0.67.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.44% at 106.15.
